CANA - Day 6 Continued........

Both our girls teams (U/13's and U/17's) played at 5.00pm tonight. This timeslot is soooo much better to play in. Although it is still hot when the game starts, the sun is on it's way down and by the time the final siren sounds the lights are on and the weather conditions are much more comfortable.

Under 17's played Marleston. Claire started the game on the bench (well earned rest) and the girls commenced the game as they have with all the others - fast paced and fierce attacking on the ball. Claire took to the court in the second half and again played well. She is having a GREAT carnival and we're very proud of her. WELL DONE FUZZ!!
Best Players: Zoe Brown, Laura Reggett & Chontel Madson
Final Score: 46-20

The Under 13's played Corcoran Park (Blue). With Ellie Gray and Tahlia Hayton still unwell, the girls commenced the game with 8 players this time. Chelsea again played in the WD position, and after a sluggish start, she was playing well by the end of the game and was taking some great intercepts. Bec Joseph started on the bench (was feeling under the weather earlier in the day) but she came on during the breaks for Renae Brelis (playing in the Centre) and played well also.

Our goalies (Lauren Downward and Kate Archer) were on fire and made great space in the goal circle and created many scoring opportunites. Kalinda Gasparin and Georgia Downward teamed well in defence and they gave very few penalties to their opposing goalies during this game, and this great play gave them a fantastic win - WELL DONE GIRLS.
Best Players: Georgia Downward, Kate Archer and Chelsea York
Final score was : 44-21

Both the U/13's and U/17's are playing in their first final at 9.00am on Friday morning. (The U/17's game has been changed from 12.00 noon to 9am - THANK GOD!!)

CANA - Day 6

Today the Under 13's and Under 17's played at 9.00am (both at the same time - AGAIN!!) They both played Corcoran Park, however the Under 13's played Corcoran Park (gold).

With Ellie Gray, Tahlia Hayton and Bec Joseph out for todays game due to illness, the remaining played "fired" right from the start and were leading 20-0 at quarter time. This pattern of play continued throughout the game and with a few players playing out of their normal positions (eg: Chelsea - WD) they combined well and eventually won the game 63-13.

Best players: Kalinda Gasparin, Kate Archer and Lauren Downward

The Under 17's also had a very easy win against Corcoran Park. Ellen Bowerman played a full game (has been struggling with a groin injury) and she combined well with Genn Sullivan in defence.

The final score was 37-10 - Well Done Girls !!

With the girls next game scheduled for 5.00pm this afternoon, Ian, Angela, Matthew and I decided to go Barra Fishing - see our blog site for photos and details of this fantastic adventure !!

Cheers

Townsville - Day 6 "Barramundi Fishing"

After the girls game today - Angela & Matthew Gasparin, Ian and I travelled to Ross River to try a bit of Barramundi Fishing (Fish Farm).

It was sooooo hot driving out there (only 'bout 20 mins in the car). It cost us $22 for an hour and they give us rods and bait (type of prawn). As its school holidays here in Queensland there were lots of kids there trying their hand at fishing.

There were 5 fishing holes to choose from, so we headed for the furthest one away as there wasnt anyone at that hole. We baited up..........

It wasnt long (only matter of minutes) before Angela landed the first fish (she was so excited!!)

Ian, Matthew and I soon followed and the action never stopped from then on - What an hour of fun we had - it was GREAT !!

The final count was:

Angela 7
Ian 6
Lisa 6
Matthew 4 (although it should be noted that poor Matthew lost a hook in a fish's gut and had to go back to the operators to get a new hook - so he wasnt fishing as long as the rest of us)

We had the best day - and Ian and I will probably take Claire and Chels back there next week
