CANA - Grand Final Day !!!!

The under 17 girls looked very nervous when they took to the court. They had a very sluggish start and with poor passing and inaccurate shooting the girls went into the half time break 7 goals down !!

Claire came on to start the 3rd quarter in GA with Jess Boulter in GS. They dragged the score back to within 4 goals but were unable to pile on the goals !! Genn Sullivan played an awesome game in defence and was backed up with Laura Reggett starting the game at WD then moving into GD in the last quarter. Although the girls were undefeated all week, they went down by 6 goals to SAUCNA - Hold your heads up high girls, your netball games were FANTASTIC to watch !!

The under 21's easily accounted for Grange in the Grand Final. Chloe Bennett was a standout in the centrecourt and she did a fantastic job considering she re-injured her ankle this week and played a full game with it terribly brusied and an wicked blue/purple colour.

The under 15's and under 13's were there watching both games and cheering loudly - it was a pleasure to see (most of the other associations left without supporting their players!!

CANA - Day 7 continued......

The under 13's played SAUCNA at 4.00pm this afternoon for a place in the Grand Final against Marleston League. The girls have played this team twice during the week and have lost both times by 28 & 30 goals!!

The girls played very well and were in with a chance at half time being down by only 1 goal. The 3rd quarter was a little harder and went into the 3rd break 5 goals down. They can hold their heads up high as they improved on their game play (passes etc) and only went down by 10 goals at the final siren. WELL DONE GIRLS!!

We didnt see the Under 21's game at 6.30pm, but have been told they easily accounted for Beenleigh.

AYC now have 2 teams in the Grand Final - 17's and 21's. WooHooo !!!!

CANA - Day 7 - It's Finals Time !!!

I'm so sorry for the huge delay in updating our blog - it's been really busy and hectic here and just havent been able to find the time :(

The under 13's played Corcoran Park at 9.ooam this morning. Already at this timeslot the temperature is rising!!
With Ellie Gray still not feeling well and also Tahlia Hayton still under the weather, the team hit the court with only 8 players, but it should be noted that Bec Joseph has also been ill and is only a 30% chance of taking the court.

The girls fired right from the start and with Chelsea playing in WD (not a position she has played EVER before) the girls were standout players and won easily 48-25.
Best Players: Kalinda Gasparin, Chelsea York & Lauren Downward

The Under 17's played at the same time (AGAIN!!). These girls had a sluggish start and went into the second half 4 goals down against SAUCNA. Claire finally took the court in GS with Nat Curtis in GA and they combined well (slick movement in the circle) and they turned the play around and went into the 3rd quarter 3 goals up !!! Genn Sullivan and Laura Reggett took some fantastic intercepts in defence also and the girls finally won a spot in the Grand Final with the score 32-28 (WELL DONE GIRLS!!)

Unfortunately we didnt see the U/15's game today but have been told they lost and therefore their carnival is over - Bad luck girls!!

Although we didnt see the Under 21's game, we were also told that they went down to Grange by 4 goals. That means they play tonight in Prelim Final against Beenleigh for a place in the Grand Final.
